Many varying legends surround the Wicked Witch of the West, but all agree on a few things: She is a resident of Oz, and is an opposing force to its Wizard. The Wicked Witch rules the land of Winkie, with Flying Monkeys as her assistants, and various residents of Oz as her slaves.
When she attempted to take Dorothy Gale of Kansas as her slave, Dorothy splashed the Witch with a bucket of water, melting the aquaphobic villainess into nothingness.
